EVANSVILLE – Bedford North Lawrence settled for 13th place in the 15-team field during the Evansville Mater Dei Invitational at prestigious Victoria National Golf Club on Saturday afternoon.
The Stars posted a team total of 369. Noblesville won the event with 312 while Guerin Catholic was second with 316.
Ethan Stanley, back after missing two matches, paced BNL with an 86 that included one birdie (on the par-5 10th hole), two double-bogeys and two triples. Cameron Jeskewich finished with 91 while Colton Spires and Cole Sanders capped the scoring with 96s.
Noblesville’s Clay Merchant was the medalist with a sensational 4-under 68 that included six birdies and an eagle. He defeated Castle’s Adam Bratton in a playoff. Bratton recorded two eagles (on the par-5 9th and 15th holes).
The Stars also competed in the Washington Invitational at Country Oaks, with the second unit finishing third in that 12-team event. BNL totaled 354, while Heritage Hills claimed the title with 349.
Jeven Adams led the way for the Stars with an 81.
BNL will return to action on Thursday when it visits New Albany.
