SEYMOUR – Bedford North Lawrence advanced five individuals and a relay team to the IHSAA girls track regional during sectional action at Seymour on Tuesday night.
The top three in each event qualified for the second round of the state tournament series at Bloomington North on May 21.
BNL’s Jillian Webb won the 400 meter dash in 1:03.07.
Makena Moore was third in the 800 in 2:36.07, and Autumn Spence finished third in the 1600 in 5:48.38. Lindsey Steel was fourth in the 200 (28.32) but advanced when one of the top three scratched from the regional.
The Stars also took third in the 3200 relay as Moore, Spence, Grace Tanksley and Myra Roberts combined to cross the line in 10:46.20.
Molly Lambrecht was third in the shot put with a toss of 35-2 1/4.
“I couldn’t be more proud of these young kids,’ BNL coach Jim Lewis said. “Everyone who competed for us did an excellent job.”
The top three finishers in the regional will advance to the state finals at Indiana University on June 1.
