BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington South swept to victories over Bedford North Lawrence during high school swimming action on Tuesday night.
The Panthers won the boys meet 113-73 and took the girls meet 123-60.
In the boys meet, the Stars won more events but couldn’t overcome South’s team depth. Jacob Werley (1:52.40 in the 200-yard freestyle and 49.16 in the 100 free) and Andrew Swenson (1:59.01 in the 200 individual medley and 52.07 in the 100 backstroke) were double winners for BNL.
Skyler Bates won the diving with 204.95 points, and Alexander Swenson claimed the 500 free in 5:10.60. BNL also won the 200 medley relay as the Swensons teamed with Werley and Dayson Sorrells to touch first in 1:44.43.
In the girls meet, Sidney Carlile recorded the lone victory for the Stars as she splashed in at 1:01.37 in the 100 butterfly.
Lauren Anders and Gillian Boggs were double winners for South. Anders took the 50 free (27.19) and 100 free (58.84) while Boggs won the 200 free (2:00.69) and 100 backstroke (1:01.84). That duo was also members of two winning relays.
BNL’s girls team will compete in the Hoosier Hills Conference meet this week, with preliminaries set for Thursday and finals on Saturday at Floyd Central.
