BLOOMINGTON – Bedford North Lawrence’s first look at the new sectional venue did not go well, as Bloomington South carded a 319-334 win over the Stars during an 18-hole match at Bloomington Country Club on Thursday.
South’s Drew Todd earned medalist honors with a 74, but the Stars failed to break 80 while struggling on the back nine.
“We got off to a pretty good start,” BNL coach Mike Wright said. “The back nine is a little tighter, and that summed up how we played. There’s really no excuse. We have to get better on that side.”
Cole Sanders paced BNL with an 81. He fired a 1-under 35 on the front nine but slipped on the final 7 holes.
Ethan Stanley posted an 82 while Colton Spires added an 85 for BNL. Thomas Tierney totaled a 76 for the Panthers.
BNL will compete in the Brownsburg Invitational on Saturday at Trophy Club, then visit Sunrise in Madison for the Hoosier Hills Conference tournament on Monday.
