LEBANON – Bedford North Lawrence finished 10th in the power-packed field at the Zionsville Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The Stars carded a team total of 338. Top-ranked Carmel, which has not lost an event this season, won the tournament at The Trophy Club with a blistering 295, followed by No.4 Guerin Catholic (307) and No.13 Columbus North (317) in the 18-team field that included seven ranked programs.
Ethan Stanley paced the Stars with a 1-over 73 that included two birdies. He finished fifth overall behind Carmel’s Nick Dentino (71), Columbus North’s Drew Smith (72), Franklin’s Damon Dickey (72) and Hamilton Southeastern’s Daivic Akala (72).
“Ethan had a lot of looks for birdie,” BNL coach Mike Wright said. “The greens are tough, and the course was the biggest challenge we’ve played outside of Victoria National. Ethan had a nice, steady round, and with the conference looming it was a nice bounce-back for him.”
Cole Sanders eagled the second hole as the highlight of his round of 80. Cameron Jeskewich (92) and Jeven Adams (93) capped the scoring for the Stars.
“The conditions turned worse at the turn, it started raining and was a steady shower,” Wright said. “When you’re mentally beat up, we could have counted some big numbers. I was proud of the way they played. It really was not a bad day. We enjoyed the competition.”
BNL will compete in the Hoosier Hills Conference tournament on Monday at Sunrise Golf Course in Madison.
